Does it hurt?

“Save the environment” a hackneyed phrase which we hear. But very few actually look in the gaffe we are creating for us or for the coming generation.
This Diwali brought a big smirk on the face of motor companies. There was a sharp rise in sale of vehicles, does it seem idyllic? I guess not for an environmentalist. Burning of fuel, running of an AC, construction of building; malls etc, steel industry, plastic industry, and list indefinitely will continue and whatever things we do without even realizing do contribute in making our environment dirty. Grandiosity is my nature, but I remember dialogue in Constant Gardener “We cannot help everyone but this child over here we can help him”, so we cannot clean whole world but small amount of pollution we do can be prevented. Gnomic!
Real issue wandering my mind after researching what exactly is Copenhagen issue and what is the criticality of the issue. Annex-I nations, played gambit, to provides financial gains and technologies in return of carbon space already used up by them. What I think that environment we are living in is very small and world is developing at a much faster rate. Today we are too much environment conscious but were we so 50 or 100 years back. I don’t know but probably we weren’t. Some great scientist has discovered that our environment would be fine or rather won’t be harming us much if concentration of CO2 is less that 450ppm or so. Now developed nations or Annex-I countries in the race of glut, war etc have already used up most of the carbon space which was intended to be distributed to each nation depending upon their population.
Consider India not more than 3% is the contribution of India in the carbon emission, but ideally it should be nearly 20% (based on population or per-capita). The honorific US having just 4.5% of world population already taken up 27% of carbon space, much beyond the specified limit. Now even after committing horrendous gaffe, still it is not taking very drastic steps as it has intended or directed developing countries to take and would be clearer in Copenhagen soon. India since independence or economy revolution in late 80’s never intended to strengthen up its manufacturing base or industry base and focused much on Service economy, may pay very heavy price if still it continues that esp when great amount of restriction will be imposed on developing countries like China and India in this environment G77 summit.
I may seem garrulous but things are not very simple when it comes on international sphere, keep in mind globalization is pounding like never before. Current world scenario, division of worlds happening in specific groups, could be harbinger of some hobgoblin. Again I just have a very wavy hope that Dr. Manmohan Singh takes some vital stands, because we cannot be told what is right by the people who followed the wrong path.
