Hindi Chini Bhai Bye

It was an Independence Day and a patriotic function was going on in my school. I was participating in the event and I was to imitate Bhagat Singh. It was during rehearsal of this, I heard the song AeMere watan ke logon and I kept wondering what could be the exact context of this song. Believe me, days were not that easy, we didn’t have internet and it was difficult to know the history or geography. In school also they don’t teach (I still wonder why) any post independence war.
Somehow, by watching movies (it was this time I developed my inclination towards movies) I concluded India fought a war against Chinese in 1962 and India lost!!! It was tragic for me. How can India lose? It’s my India after all. Country which I was born in, was living in had lost a war. Are we safe? Or someday these bunch of Chinese will conquer whole India and again we will be under Chinese Raj.
I am not good at remembering events. I lived my life for next few years. Again Chinese incursion and border problem came into news. Things were different now and I can google lot of things. So here I was trying to understand strategic problems India and China are facing.
There is a huge chunk of land in Kashmir (which they have already occupied after 1962 war) and in North-East Region Arunachal Pradesh. Claims are from both the sides. After conquering or politically acquiring Tibet China had always claimed Arunachal Pradesh as its integral part. War cannot be the solution of anything so big think tanks of both the countries appointed committees. But I wonder what they discuss in the meeting. History of both the nation is too much bushy, colonialism, imperialism, and all kind of ism. It seems to me they must be putting up the weak evidences, which I am sure must be different for both these countries because you can’t write queer.
So I was wondering why China didn’t pushed Indian that much as he is pushing it now. One of the reason I can think of is China has emerged as a big global power and satisfying its economic and infrastructure needs now trying to get off its political bindings. This definitely involves sorting out 50 years long border issue.
India seems nowhere in the picture. We Indians always tend to push things. Still following Non-Violence, we will never make the first strike. But situation sometimes demands to make strategic initiation and Indian didn’t do this when they had time. So here we are losing General Secretary post in UN, still not a member of security council in UN, despite of 1/5th of Kashmir region with China, we offered talk on Kashmir with only Pakistan and never with China and the list continues.
It’s time to be more prudent in diplomacy, strategic planning and leveraging what we have. Not to ponder over and wait for the things to come on us. Don’t be hasty but you can’t win if you are slow, diplomacy teaches us this and now we have to understand it and should take some crucial steps. Steps should coz road is inundating, and what we will see as google map show us now:
Arunachal Pradesh India’s Sovereign state is an integral part of China.

PS: Observe dotted lines. It shows how infirm and dotted is our diplomacy and our leaders.
