Relinquishing all my hopes sitting in a cab waiting to reach train station, I was smoking away the awful lateness of my flight. Lassitude was I on cliche behavior of airlines.
Reaching 7.5 minutes after the departure of train and have nowhere to go now I went outside and drank tea. Quite and cold night it is. Midnight is here and I have to wait till dawn to catch next train.
Tenacity has led to who I am. I have to be awake for all night so didn't bother of couple of butt still in my bag.
All reservations counters were shut. A small window was open with drowsy little man sitting behind counter. "When will ticket counter open?". Opening his bloodshot eyes giving a vermicular expression " Cant you bloody read".
I have to wait till 4 am to buy tickets. Sitting in small bench besides a policeman eating what a night shop has to offer.
Managed to pass my three hours reading LOTR in waiting room glancing over guards kicking weeders and alcoholic and hearing verbosely exchange of abuses.
Ticket counter was finally open but had no luck in getting confirmed reservation so have to wait for current reservation which would open in next 30 minutes. Fat middle aged man with brownish beard and no moustache came close to me " I can get you ticket". I maundered innocently " You work here?" Widening his eyes he retorted " Give me your name and will get you ticket confirmed. Including tatkal and my fees pay me 1200." Surprised and angry was I retorted " There is no tatkal in current reservation and you are asking me 500 as your commission." Lightning my cigarette I looked back. He was flabbergasted " Are you Kanpuriya?" he asked. "Yep thats why I think like you!" I smiled and he quietly moved away. Nothing profitable will come from me, he moved to other prospective ignorant people.
Right infront of me he got 7 tickets form filled for same train. Having a big grim on his face he concludedly said to me " I'll take 1100. Dont be fool I will get your ticker or you just wait here." " I love waiting. Cant you see I am enjoying here." releasing a bated breath of smoke.
In precisely 30 min I went again to counter and got my ticket and the person standing behind me with 7 forms in full desperation crowding me. "Ooh I saved 500 bucks, maybe I can give to someone in need and not to wicked person who make money out of other people ignorance and misery." said I to him.
I went back to waiting room retiring to my old friend my book.
