Schadenfreude
"Mudita" is the Buddhist Concepts in which an entity (any living creatures) derives pleasure from another's good fortune. It is the belief we Indians grew on. But slowly westernization as it sweeps away the lifestyle, it is also sweeping away the thought process instituting changes in demeanor.
The cognitive reasoning is murked by plethora of communication media we live in. Be it socializing site, random news website or general discussion. Everywhere to get a glance of recognition people are floundering with truth and post their opinion by being judgmental. Such diluted yet engaging communication leads to truth being coerced in our mind. In all these rampant torture, our mind believes in something it never used to because the innate reasoning takes backseat.
Deriving pleasure or sense of pleasure from other's misfortune I believe is a result of such coercion of truth. This is not supposed to be innate behavioral response rather a forced one. It is a result of distance we have grown from humane nature and a small getaway to vent out the anger we developed on our misery through such acts.
The simple reasoning I have in life is if you are happy, you can't find pleasure in other's misfortune. And if you are not happy you might have slight sense of comfort in doing so, but I say "was this the reason of your misfortune". And will it give long-lasting pleasure we all desired from the bug's life we are living.
